We have had a sudden influx of pied crows in the park across the road from us. They have become quite tame and can be seen scavenging around here most of the day.
American crows are not so "elegantly dressed" as these. They are solid black, but otherwise you can see by the features that they are related. We do have magpies which are black and white with a bit of a bluish tinge to the black. I think they may be related as well.
You've captured them nicely. Too bad they don't chase rats.
What a nice collage of photos... these crows are decorated much better than our crows here giving them the appearance as if they are wearing a white vest. It's a neat look.
Katney, we also have black crows here and our magpie looks very much like the pied crow, except that it only has a white collar around the neck, not the white under belly.
Tom, I used to get very confused about which one was a crow and which one was a magpie. Our crows wear either black or a tuxedo. The magpies only wear a white scarf :)
Susanne, thanks for your comments. Mmmmm.......I'll have to keep a watch on them as more and more seem to be gathering in the park ...... could be "The Birds" for real :)

ReplyDeleteWe don't have these Pied Crows in the UK, we have Magpies which are black and white crows but are more sleek and their tails are much longer.
ReplyDeleteEven they remind me to A.Hitchcocks movie "The Birds", I like your photos very much, Max! Great shots.

ReplyDeleteMomma, thanks for the comment. Glad you liked them - they are very entertaining birds - noisy, but entertaining
ReplyDeleteMichele, their markings always make me think that they are wearing a tuxedo - very elegant

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful those crows! I see they look quite tame! Great photos, Max-E!
ReplyDeleteI Love the look of your crows....they look like they have a vest on :)
ReplyDeleteI guess Katney said it correctly, US crows aren't so elegantly attired. I never saw this type before. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI see lots of visitors have been Ravin' about your pix! Soon you'll be strutting around the house crowing about your bird photos!
