Years ago I read a book about the Great Karoo and what it was like in the early days when herds of animals took days to pass through, and how it would suddenly come to life with colourful flowers. I'll have to go delving into my hoard of books to see if I still have it. I'd love to see it for myself but doubt that will ever happen. Beautiful photo.
