I had a lot of fun this weekend photographing kelp gulls at Port St Francis. I enjoy watching them and have a big collection of gull photos, because I cannot resist photographing them. This is a series of me tryng to capture them in flight.

Becasue kelp gulls are so common along the South African coastline, we often tend to overlook them when it comes to photigraphy, but they do make interesting subjects.

This guy very willingly posed for his portrait at Port St Francis last week end. The truth is that I was trying to get him to fly off, so that I could photograph him in flight, but he stubbornly refused to move.

Sky Watch Friday - Soaring again

After the dreaded "C" word I am happily back in action - somewhat behind schedule, but nevertheless back. Today's picture features an immature Kelp Gull soaring overhead at Port St Francis.

Beachfront birds #1 - Grey headed gull

Grey headed gull looking for a handout at the Kings Beach parking lot. I offered him a piece of banana, which he grabbed with great gusto, but then dropped it in disgust, much to the delight of the pigeons.

I learnt today that taking an active three year old to the museum is not a good idea. Fortunately there are other things that were more to his liking, like crocodiles at the snake park.

Of course everyone loves a dolphin. Domino gave a star performance this morning, with his daughter Dumisa, looking on and providing her own side show. Dumisa's mother died when she was born and she is unique in that she was bottle reared.

It was a beautiful day at the Port today. No wind and no cold front as predicted. Just another day in paradise.
