Rememberance Day

Rememberance Day Parade held at the Walmer Town Hall today

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

Lets hope as those vets get older and die that this day won't die with them and that it will be remembered for ever.

A good day of remembrance. I appreciated reading the poem again. Its been many years. the words are still full of meaning today.

The Last Post was played today at Pretoria Boys' High School! My dad fought at El Alamein and in Italy with SA Armoured Division. I liked the poem. I posted Futility by Wilfred Owen on my blog. Go well!
PS We are having wonderful summer rains at present. The veld is turning greener by the day.

Today is Veterans Day in the States, which I think is similar to your Remembrance day. Nice post.
