Crowned lapwing chick

These little guys are growing up fast - I can already see a difference in this chick after a few days. I find it amazing how they survive in the harsh environment of the parking lot. It has been extremely hot in Uitenhage this week and there is no available water - I assume they make do with the dew in the morning.
If you are interested in birds, pop over to Firefly who has posted some delightful pictures of a Cape Glossy Starling feeding her young.

It'll be really interesting to see the chicks gradually grow up.

(I enjoyed Firefly's photos too - thanks).

It's nice to know that there are two beings out there keeping an eye on these chicks and other than the One looking from above you are the second.
Thanks for the link to my photo. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. It was great to be able to just sit in my camp chair and watch the adult starlings flying up and down bringing food. I don't want to call myself a big birder, but I do appreciate the special things in life and I though having them next to out tent was very special.
