Suzi-k and I went for a drive around the North End cemetary this afternoon, on a photographic expedition and I was delighted to come a cross this fellow. He allowed me to get quite close, before moving off. When I got back to the car grinning like a Cheshire cat Suzi-k said, "That really made your day, didn't it".
It sure did.
I have featured dikkops before. You can click on the labels if you want to see more.

I went out this afternoon too, but even though I saw some birds I couldn't get a good enough picture of them, as I have just a little pocket camera. I never get near enough! :(
He is beautiful! The yellow of his eye matches the yellow flowers!
Come see the Tufted Titmouse I posted on Friday...and my Snow pics from today.
Nice shot! I love the yellow flowers also.
To get this picture would have made my day too!
Nice photo! Beautiful the dikkop!
I am glad you liked to see your three pals on my blog!
I hope you and Suzi-k have a good week ahead!

Nice capture for sure... love the colour of this birds eyes. As for grinning like a cheshire cat... as a Cheshire man I do that all the time ;o)
Hi Amrita
These birds are nocturnal and lie up during the day. If you approach them they remain perfectly still until the last minute and run off. They seldom fly
Beautiful, Max! If I took that photo it surely would make my day. Except pigeons I have never managed to capture any other bird.
I can with great confidence say that I have never seen this bird before - but it looks great all the same!
I envy you the summer...
Thank you for a nice comment!
Max-e I love bird photos, and this one is really cool capture. Anna :)
Anna this picture was a real bonus for me. I was going to crop it, but liked the way the yellow daisy's picked up on the yellow eye of the bird.
I would imagine he was difficult to see...nice shot!!!
Too cool shot, I really like the way the bird's eye matches the flowers.
