Actually it is not a bee, but whatever it is, it is enjoying a sip of nector from a thistle, one of the exotic plants that have become a regular sight on our landscape.
This picture was taken earlier today on a trip Sue and I made down the Elands River Valley to Patensie. There are a lot more pictures to come over the next few weeks.
PS: The busy little bee is a hover fly. Amazing what a Google search reveals

Beautiful shot. Enjoyed your post about mini buses too.
It looks like a bee and it seems as busy as a bee... nice close up Max...
What a pretty color the thistle is!
What a pretty photo!! I don't think it looks like a bee either. Have you googled it?
Jenty that was a good idea you had. It is a hover fly. I found an interesting site with pictures at Lambert Smiths's Insecta
A very amazing photo! Well framed. I am glad that you have nice weather.
Max-e, at first I thought I was looking at the bumble bee, lol. Yes you are right about google search, great tool of the 21st century. And to close up this comment, this is really nice close up of both. Anna :)
In these parts thistle is a weed... but that doesn't mean it's not beautiful!
Hi all thanks fo the comments.
I think it is also regarded as a weed here Cheesy, being an exotic plant
Wow Max.....what a wonderful shot! They are considered weeds here...but I like to think of them as WILDFLOWERS! Beautiful!
