Snarl of a V8

I took a series of photos of old cars at the Matjiesfontein Museum some years ago with our first point and shoot digital camera and feel the time has come to start showing some of them.
The Buick Super Eight reminds me of the old comic character Prof Wotasnozzle (that dates me doesn't it).

This Buick comes from an era when cars were crafted. But they were big, ugly and thirsty, but had a charm of their own.
I enjoy looking at old cars, but would never want to own one - there is far too much maintenance and cleaning for my liking. Imagine having to keep all that chrome and metal shining?

Hi Max...
I love this kind of thing.. be I compromised and went for an old Landrover... ha! they look better all battered and bumped, run of Veg oil and diesels.. 80% veg normally.. historic vehical tax in the UK (FREE) Cheap insurance... very cheep. And young tear aways don't want to nick them for joy riding.. fun fun fun... but cold, bumpy and leak oil..ha!

Tom, a landy would be my concession to old cars. My first car was a green 1957 Landrover. I loved that Landy - it was slow, noisy, uncomfortable - cold or hot depending on the season, but went anywhere. Been wanting another one for the last thirty years.

T.hanks for the many comments you made on my blogs today. I enjoyed reading them and now visiting your blog. The car is a classic beauty; they are fascinating, aren't they?

I can easily tell you like classic Fords with a classic streamline design. I admire that because I'm a carologist, studier of cars.
