Yesterday the family popped down to the Addo Elephant National Park for the afternoon. Why? To see the elephants of course.
It was a cool and blustery day so there were no elephants cooling down at the water holes, but we came across many lone bulls in the dense bush as we drove around.
A big guy browsing from the bushes. .
Man with a mission. By the way one of the peculiarities of the female elephants at Addo is that they do not have tusks
Towards sunset we came across this fellow having a drink at the Domkrag Dam.
At sunset we ended up in the middle of a herd of female elephants with calves. I was not able to take any pictures of the little guys, but Suzie managed a few. See PE Daily Photo.
We saw a lot of other game and I will post pictures of the other animals we saw over the next week.

Amazing shots, Max! I can't imagine being so up-close-and-personal right there in their home territory.
Peace - D
They are so big, ugly and wrinkled but they are also cute.
WOW... these guys are humongous! I would probably freak if I saw one of these next to me... LOL
Wonderful photos!

It is amazing how close you are to those powerful animals. They must have a thick hide to move so happily amongst those thorns. Personally, I think elephants are really beautiful creatures although I would be quite wary of them. You live in an amazing place Max-e.
Happy belated birthday, Max.
We truely are very fortunate to have a place like Addo so close to Port Elizabeth.
Up close and personal!
I am not so sure I would want to sit in a small car in this situation.
Oh that must have been fun to see them like that, nothing like that ever happens here, lol, the only adventure I had when I saw big transport truck swaying on the highway, and when I drove up close, I saw elephant trunks sticking out through the cracks, that was bit wow for me. Great shots Max-e as always. Anna :)
That must have been such an incredible experience! WOW!
wow great pictures. You can really tell how big they are.
Amazing pictures! Looks like a documentary on Discovery Channel! Great, Max!
