These wildebees, or gnu's if you prefer, were photographed at Kleinpoort, which is about 120 kms from Port Elizabeth. I just loved the way light caused the layering effect of the mountains.

This is gorgeous and quite peaceful.
It is a very interesting shot. The silvery sky in the background contrasts well against the silhouetted hills and animals. It looks like it could be in National Geographic Mag! Have a good weekend!
Great and nice shot !!
Beautiful muted colors
What a FANTASTIC capture Max!! So glad you visited my blog and we've connected again!
I like that layering effect, too. Beautiful photo.
Hi...it's me again. You asked about the labels. I have mine set to "frequency" rather than "alphabetical"; I just went into the layout and edited the badge. You probably have your set on both settings. Thanks for visiting my pic!
This has a nice atmosphere about it Max. I know someone who has a place in those apartments you took a picture of in St Francis. It looks lovely there.
Yes, it is a Monarch. I am hard at work to get my site up for species identification and hope to have a lot completed in another few weeks time. I will let you know when it is done Max then you can always check on there. I am doing it the wag Bugguide is in the USA but it will not be only bugs. We sadly lack books on these subjects here.
I love it when I cna get this kind of light.
When I look at a scene like this, I always think that the mountains look like a bad special effect. Why? you ask. Cause you can see right through them.
Another great skywatch photo and you got a new follower - me :-)
