The breaking waves give the sea a misty look with an eight second time exposure

Excellent photo, I find it hard to capture night photos, still working on it. Part of me is lazy to change settings, I really like to point and shoot method, otherwise the object like birds will disappear. Great shot though, anna :)

Thanks for your comments Anna. I love playing with settings - comes from getting into photography in the dark ages, with film and a handheld light meter. The beauty of digital is the delete button and instant preview facility.
I carry a little table top tripod in my camera bag, for just these occassions. A beanbag is also useful for the night shots.

I love this shot, I'm a bit like Anna, I need to get some of the settings tweeked first.

Thanks for comment Tom. It's quite simple really. just a slow shutter speed and a tripod. Digital also makes it so much easier - no wasted film

Hi Karoline
Srry I can't tell you anything about the name, but will see what I can find out.

The pier was built in 1998, to reclaim the beach that had totally eroded away. It has been a very successful project and there is now a wide expanse of beach on the westen side.
